Ovaries are the primary female sex organs. They produce ova and hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. Each oviduct has infundibulum with fimbriae, ampulla and isthmus; the ampullary-isthmic junction is the usual site of fertilisation. The uterus has muscular myometrium and inner endometrium, which changes cyclically and supports implantation. The cervix forms the lower narrow part of the uterus and opens into the vagina. Mammary glands contain lobes, alveoli and ducts that help in milk production and release after childbirth. Exam questions often connect these structures to ovulation, fertilisation, implantation and lactation.
